+ - What is a IBCLC®? (LCANZ.org)

IBCLC® stands for International Board Certified Lactation Consultants. IBCLC® lactation consultants are recognised throughout the world as holding the premier global credential in the lactation care profession.

They are;

  • Knowledgeable about up-to-date evidence-based practices in lactation as demonstrated through a rigorous exam process and re-certification at 5-year intervals
  • Focused on preventative care
  • Experienced in a wide variety of complex breastfeeding situations
  • Competent to assist mothers with establishing and maintaining breastfeeding, even in difficult and high-risk circumstances
  • Sensitive to the needs of both mothers and children as they work to help mothers meet their breastfeeding goals
  • Ethical in their practice, held accountable to Standards of Practice and a Code of Ethics, and work within a defined Scope of Practice.
+ - When should I see a IBCLC®?

Lactation consultants offer a broad range of services and can help with sore & cracked nipples, low milk supply & oversupply, mastitis, colic and reflux symptoms, pumping, preparing to return to work, mixed feeding, introducing a bottle or solids, weaning, breastfeeding management plans whilst pregnant, low infant weight gain, breast refusal, difficulty latching, inducing lactation and can perform tongue-tie assessments using a validated assessment tool.

+ - What are your fees?

+ - Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes! Gift certificates are a fabulous baby shower gift idea. A gift certificate from Milk Supply Noosa is a practical, gentle and loving way of showing support to new mamas.

+ - Do I need a referral?

Referrals are not required but are welcome.

+ - Can you help me with bottle feeding, introducing solids and/or cup feeding?

Absolutely! Milk Supply Noosa understands that every family’s feeding journey is unique and we are here to help guide you through your options and choices

+ - What are your qualifications?

Kelly Rechtin of Milk Supply Noosa attained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree at Southern Cross University in Lismore, NSW and has been registered with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) since 1998.

She received a Graduate Certificate in Maternal & Child Health Nursing from the University of Tasmania in 2013.

She has been an IBCLC® since 2009.

+ - Do you have any experience with tongue ties?

Yes! Milk Supply Noosa is the exclusive Lactation Consultant for Wattle Street Dental’s tongue tie clinic. Intensive courses with the Tongue Tie Institute and various professional education courses have been undertaken in this field.

Milk Supply Noosa is a preferred provider listed with the Tongue Tie Institute of Australia.

+ - How do I make a booking?

Click the BOOK NOW button, choose your service, choose your booking date and time, and submit the COVID-19 and medical history forms.

+ - How do I prepare for our consultation?

Please ensure you have completed your electronic COVID-19 declaration and patient intake forms found within your confirmation email before your appointment.

Please bring your red book and a hungry baby!

+ - Can I bring a support person?

Absolutely!

+ - Are your services covered by Medicare?

Unfortunately, no. The Australian Government does not recognise Lactation Consultations as a Medicare rebatable profession at this stage.

+ - Are you registered with any private health insurers?

Milk Supply Noosa is a registered preferred provider with all private health insurers who offer lactation rebates. Please check with your health insurance company to enquire on your coverage limits. Australian Private Health Insurers to currently offer lactation coverage are;

+ - Are you able to help me donate or access donor milk?

It is against the Code of Conduct for IBCLC®s to facilitate milk sharing, however, Milk Supply Noosa does think it is an amazing option! To access peer to peer breastmilk sharing, search the Facebook Pages Human Milk for Human Babies &/or Eats on Feets.

If you are interested in donating extra expressed breast milk, in addition to donating your milk through the peer to peer breast milk sharing sites mentioned above, the QLD Milk Bank and/or the Australian Red Cross accepts breast milk donations for premature hospitalised infants.

+ - Can I make an appointment with you at your clinic?

Yes! Milk Supply offers individualised and confidential consultations at our home office clinic in Noosa Heads.

+ - Do you offer appointments while in the hospital?

No. However, you are welcome to book your appointment while still in the hospital.

+ - Can I see you while I’m pregnant?

Yes! Prenatal and pre-adoptive consults (including induced lactation) are encouraged.

Discussing your medical history can help proactively create a feeding plan before birth/adoption to maximise outcomes.

+ - Do you offer breast pump hire?

Yes! Milk Supply Noosa offers the ARDO Calypso for hire. The ARDO Calypso is a hospital-grade, double electric breast pump suitable for multiple users.

Pump kit parts are sold separately and are also available for purchase.

All breast pump initial rentals include a short appointment to familiarise you to the pump and ensure you have the correct size pump kit (if needed)

+ - Do you sell nipple shields, pump parts or feeding tubes?

Yes, yes, yes!

+ - Are you WHO CODE compliant?

Yes! Milk Supply Noosa is a strong supporter and advocate of the WHO Code

+ - COVID statement

Please reschedule if you have tested positive for COVID within the last 5 days, are experiencing COVID symptoms, &/or have travelled overseas within the last 5 days.
